Discovering Your Life in Christ
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory; But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ; by grace you have been saved and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:11-12; 2:4-6 (ESV)
Have you ever received an inheritance? My mother passed away a few years ago, and I inherited a shadow box a friend made for her. Each window of the house-shaped box showed a part of her life that brings back wonderful memories and floods of emotion. It’s an inheritance I will cherish for the rest of my life.
God Give Each of Us an Inheritance
Did you know that God has given each of us an inheritance that goes way beyond description? He has allowed us to share in the inheritance of His Son, Jesus. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, God has adopted us into His family and elevated us to sit with Him and Jesus at His table.
We are His Family
Let that sink in for a minute. The Almighty, all-powerful, ever-present Creator of everything loves us so much that He has adopted us into His family and elevated us to royalty. Yes, royalty. He is the King! That makes us princes and princesses. He has given each of us a life that we can’t even imagine.
To many of us live as though we have been defeated. We go through life depressed because of circumstances, we fret over issues beyond our control, and we have forgotten (or never realized) that God is our daddy. God promises to care for us, provide for us, and defend us when needed.
Live Your Life in Christ
All it takes is faith in Him and a willingness to let Him mold us into what He wants us to be. Isn’t that what we do with our children. We want them to be obedient, to grow into someone extraordinary. When they stray, we show them tough love and try to steer them in the right direction. God does the same for us.
So, the next time things aren’t going right. When you’re at the end of your rope, and you don’t know where to go. Please take a few minutes and seek the face of our Heavenly Father. He is there for you. He has already made you alive and is ready to provide for all your needs. All you have to do is reach out and accept His offer of life.
