Spiritual Growth Doesn’t Have to be Hard

When I was younger, my pastor always told me that I had to read my Bible and pray daily to grow Spiritually. While this is a good practice, I was led to believe that if I didn’t do this every day, there was no point because there would be no spiritual growth. It discouraged me from doing anything that would build my relationship with God. As I grew older, I found that spiritual growth differs for everyone.

Everyone learns differently. People grow in their skills in different ways. Why, then, can we not grow in our faith differently? Some people feel closer to God when they help the needy, while others build their relationship through worship music. While the Bible is vital for our spiritual growth, and we should include our lives as part of that spiritual growth, we look for ways that give our relationship with God purpose and bring us closer to Him.

Here are a few suggestions to help your spiritual growth.

Prayer

Prayer is how we communicate with God. It doesn’t have to be a formal conversation but merely a discussion with God. The significant part of prayer is that we can do it anytime, anywhere. One of the best prayer times I’ve had is when driving to work.

Worship

Music plays an essential role in almost everyone’s life. It puts us in a good mood, sets an atmosphere to study, and is something great to listen to while we work. Playing worship music is an excellent way to bring us into the presence of God. It provides an expression that God loves to hear.

Service

Serving God by serving others is another way we can grow in our relationship with Him.  Doesn’t it always feel good to help someone else? By serving others, we follow the example that Jesus gave while he lived on Earth.

The Bible

Finally, the Bible will always be the ultimate source of spiritual growth. We should still spend time in God’s Word to understand Him more and learn how He wants us to live.

God has given us many avenues to follow Him and grow closer to Him. No matter which road you take to your spiritual growth, God will always honor those that follow Him and make Him part of their lives.
